Applied Propagation Physics Group

The Applied Propagation Physics Group (APPG) is a multidisciplinary research and engineering team devoted to advancing scientific understanding and technological innovation in underwater acoustics, signal processing, and robotics. Led by Professor Y.-T. Lin and comprising numerous engineers, staff, postdoctoral scholars, and students, we strive to improve our ability to characterize the undersea environment.

About Us

Established in 2023, APPG focuses on the development of advanced acoustic and signal processing techniques for underwater applications. We are a seagoing group, with our members frequently embarked on research vessels conducting field experiments throughout the world’s oceans. Our research spans a wide range of topics, including:

APPG is part of the Marine Physical Laboratory at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego. Our lab facilities are located at Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla, California, and at the Nimitz Marine Facility in Point Loma, California.
